Our objective was to create a a beautiful yet well-organized space worthy of the homeowner’s baking expertise. Removing an ill-placed powder room and an inadequate pantry opened the space, but more importantly, created an area for the desired Baking Center. A 48″ Platinum Blue Star Range and Electric Wall Oven, in custom Cream with Antique Copper accents, not only gave the baker in the family the ability to create her specialties, but also creates a design that integrates well with the Plain & Fancy Custom Cabinetry in Buttercream with Peppercorn accents on the island, and the Benjamin Moore Weimaraner on the hutch and dish cabinet. Choosing a Kohler Stages sink enables efficient clean-up of large baking pans and creates optional counter space. The perimeter countertops are Black Absolute; the designer used a brushed finish to give it the feel of soapstone. The baking center has a very practical, yet complementing Lagos Azul Quartz as do the hutch and upper banquette wall. The island top is a stunning honed Corteccia Quartzite, which brings a flow of soft colors that ties it all together.
