The challenge was to create a kitchen where the family could do a number of things together: cook, dine, entertain and study with a view of their beautiful garden. The kitchen workspace is shielded from the adjacent dining area by a raised eating counter on the island. The primary kitchen sink is complimented with a raised Asko dishwasher to the left with dish storage above that allows the homeowner to load and unload in one easy step without bending over.
A trip to Winterthur, an American country estate/museum in Delaware, helped inspire the cabinet combination of elegant cherry raised panel doors and a glazed blue finish in this traditional kitchen. Adding to the elegant design are the chandeliers in the center ceiling area. The trim and finish of the kitchen cabinets are echoed in the molding of the custom fireplace wall in the dining area. An entertainment center furniture piece in a complementary Cocoa finish on cherry completes the great room.
