The objective was to design a kitchen within the existing wall space; include upscale appliances, floor-to-ceiling storage and add a built-in table area. They also wanted architectural furniture details that would transform this ho-hum room into a “wow” kitchen. The designer immediately realized that the space would not accommodate a stand-alone island, so they went for an elongated U-shaped kitchen.
The focal point is the cooking area; using a 36″ Wolf gas range top with pull out pot & pan storage below and an arched wains panel English style hood above. Utilizing these aspects, we were able to create a functional, yet architecturally interesting space.
Adjacent to the range top is the built-in full overlay Sub-Zero refrigerator and tall pantry. The sink, on a diagonal, finishes off the work triangle. The lower level table seats five comfortably and does double duty with a message center tucked in on the end.
The designer added architectural details that incorporate mullion glass doors, fluted pilasters and an arched toe-kick valance. Two complementing granite tones, and tile backsplash details add its own warm qualities to the elegance of the overall design.
