The before kitchen was far from having neutral kitchen colors; it was an outdated kitchen with wood cabinets and green countertops. The clients wanted a kitchen that was warm and inviting and opened into their living room. They knew they had room for the improvements and wanted their dream kitchen to come to life. A remodel of the dining area was crucial, they always had a large dinner crowd and wanted a dining nook and an open living room to accommodate. The dining nook was placed by the bay window with an oval table and bench seating for guests and family members. The original island was small, and the homeowners knew they wanted to change that. The island almost doubled in size and includes a stove with a range hood and functional cabinetry. The cabinetry on the island is a different color than the perimeter cabinets; but both are neutral kitchen cabinet colors. The perimeter cabinets are finished with a buttercream paint and the island cabinets are finished in a cottage glaze; both on maple wood cabinets. The perimeter countertops are a pental canyon polished material and the island countertop is zodiaq nutmeg with an ogee edge. The two cabinet finishes and countertop materials blend seamlessly together; creating a warm, neutral kitchen color scheme.
