Custom Green Painted Hutch in Wilmington, Delaware

A young family loved their home but found the kitchen was not welcoming, nor did it provide a comfortable place to cook and gather in. It also lacked the Prairie-style aesthetic the family enjoyed throughout the rest of the home. The design solution was to repurpose an adjacent pantry space into an informal sunny table area; a new corner pantry was added. A back staircase leading to the “servant’s” bedroom in this 80-year old home was removed so that the kitchen became much larger. A generous island anchors the space and includes a cooktop with a downdraft ventilation.

Featuring a beautiful custom beamed ceiling, architecturally correct for the style of the home, the kitchen was transitioned to a simpler Prairie historical style thanks to the cabinetry and decorative materials.
